Commercial joinery & fit-out

Reception desks, boardroom AV walls, slatted screens, office desk runs, archive and museum storage, lockers and bar counters. We work directly for end clients and, more often, as the manufacturer behind a fit-out contractor or an interior designer.

What we are usually asked for

Reception desks. Curved counters are our most repeated commercial piece. They are laminated and machined rather than bent on site, built in sections that will go through a door, and set to the working height and the accessible height you need.

Boardroom and AV walls. Television and screen walls with concealed cable routes, acoustic panelling and painted edges — frequently manufactured by us and finished by the fit-out contractor on site.

Slatted screens and ceiling rafts. Oak batten partitions that divide a space without closing it, cut on the nesting CNC so the spacing is identical down the whole run.

Storage. Full-height cupboards with solid sliding doors, strengthened shelves, plinths and shadow battens — including archive and museum store units. Also MFC lockers, shoe boxes for entrance lobbies and painted arched bookcase fronts.

Office furniture. Desk runs with overhead cupboards, pedestals, hutch shelving and resin or laminate tops, dry-assembled in the workshop before they go out so that site assembly is quick.

Reception

Curved reception counters

A curved reception desk for an office fit-out: a white curved front with a dark counter over it, built in sections and set out around the glazed partitions that went in afterwards.

Curves are laminated and machined in the workshop rather than bent on site, which is the only way to get a fair curve and a consistent overhang. It is built in sections that will go through a door, so it can be collected and set in place by the customer’s own team or delivered and assembled by ours.

Screens

Slatted ash room dividers

Room-divider screens for the communal lounge of an extra-care retirement scheme, made for a trade customer who fitted them themselves. Nearly three metres tall, and they had to divide the room without closing it in.

Built in 25 mm ash MDF for the slats and base with solid ash to the skirting and fascia, ash edging where it shows, and a light stain under a dead-matt clear lacquer to a sample. The battens at top and bottom are tulipwood, painted black and recessed so the slats appear to float between them. Every slat is cut and drilled on the nesting CNC, so the spacing does not drift over a three-metre run.

Supplied flat-packed and screwed from the outside, because the customer needed to carry them in and build them on site.

  • 25 mm ash MDF slats, solid ash skirting and fascia
  • Recessed tulipwood battens, painted black
  • Light stain and dead-matt clear lacquer to sample
  • Flat-packed, knock-down, assembled on site by the customer
Offices

Desk runs, built before they travel

Office desk runs with overhead cupboards, pedestals and hutch shelving. These are dry-assembled in the workshop first — the second photograph is that stage — so that everything is proved to fit before it is loaded.

On site it goes in as a set of known pieces rather than a puzzle, which matters when you are working in an office that is still occupied.

  • Dry-assembled and checked before delivery
  • Laminate, oak or resin tops
  • Cable management built in
